..::Update 2::..
Okay so I got my results a couple of days ago, and I'm happy to say I got pretty okay results:
Art & Design Unit 1: 78/80 = A*
Art & Design Unit 2: 80/80 = A*
Overall Grade: A*
I honestly don't even know how, but ya XD
..::Update::..
I have since then done my real GCSE final piece which is here if you want to see it:
Here are the steps to this piece:
This is my final mock piece for my GCSE art. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this and I kind of can't believe I have lol
I learnt a lot while painting this, including that even if you think you're not getting any better, don't give up or lose heart - it just takes time to notice your improvements until you think 'Hey, I'm actually getting better at this!'. Learn not to compare yourself to others, but to learn from them and their hard work, time and energy they put into whatever it is. You WILL get better if you give it all you've got! That's a promise
That sounded extremely cheesy and cringey but it's all so true.
In this piece, I tried to apply a lot of knowledge that I have learnt from doing loads of research on composition, colour etc. For example, I made things off centre so the eyes aren't 'locked' in one place, and I tried to make the subject's facial position and expression interesting rather than boring like I usually do when front profile painting/drawing portraits (which I have pretty much always done for forever).
The knowledge I have in my head are things that I am still learning to apply and stuff if that makes sense..? I have taken huge amounts of time doing tons and tons of research for the past 2-3 years. The research included things like watching sped up speedpaints, or 4+ hour real-time or slightly sped-up paintings with voice-overs on YouTube (which I find are the most helpful ways of learning, by hearing what the artist has to say about their work and how they do certain things etc. while watching it actually happen in detail), constantly analysing (or just looking at) extremely talented artists' work (old traditional and modern trad+digital) which actually inspired me to make a group dedicated to amazing digital paintings on DA if you want to join it: amazingdigitalart.deviantart.c….
All the research I have done has not at all felt like work to me - it has all been out of pure interest, and I think this is why I have learnt so much in the past couple of years. I just love art.
Tools: Photoshop CC and Wacom Intuos5 tablet
Time taken: About 12 hours altogether
